Hertz launches its Green Collection

Now consumers interested in doing something good for the environment have a new choice when picking a rental car.

Hertz recently introduced its Green Collection of fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly cars that includes the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Buick LaCrosse and Hyundai Sonata. The cars have an EPA highway fuel efficiency of at least 28 mpg. In addition, more than half of the fleet are certified to emit lower air pollutants and greenhouse gases.

With more than 35,000 cars in the Green Collection, Hertz guarantees availability at 50 major airports, as well as additional sites. The fleet also was expanded to seven airports in Canada, and 50 locations were expected to be in operation in Europe by the end of 2006.

“With the launch of the Green Collection, Hertz expands its lead as the only major car rental company offering reservable vehicles that are right for the times for specific customer segments,” said Mark Frissora, chief executive officer at Hertz.

Get organized and save time, money

It’s time to make good on your New Year’s resolution to get organized. Here are five tips to help you get it together.

  • Give everything a home. Keep papers off household surfaces by giving them a place to go, such as filing cabinets or boxes.
  • Get the right help. Part of being organized is having the right tools. Calendars can help you plan and manage your time. Labels on files and boxes make it easier to find things.
  • Don’t procrastinate. You know how easy things pile up around the house. Go through the mail every day. File receipts after a trip to the store. Get into the habit and you won’t fall behind.
  • Make a decision. Organizing is as much about knowing what to get rid of as it is deciding what to keep. At least once a year, do a thorough purging of closets, files and so on. Donate what you and family members have not worn in a year to a charity. Any old receipts or statements can be discarded. Do electronic back-ups whenever you can.
  • Get in the organizer’s mindset. Each time you hang a coat on a hanger, you’ve scored a small victory over clutter. Take care of little things before they get to be big problems.
