Members can save $150 on smart moving service

Shetler Moving and Storage, an agent for Atlas Van Lines, provides great savings for AAA members on traditional moving and a new flexible moving service when a traditional truck move is more than you need.

Smart Move is a containerized option that offers a convenient shipping and storage solution with service flexibility. You have the option to do it yourself or have Smart Move help you, or you can let Smart Move do it all.

Under the program, you can decide how much help you’d like with packing, loading and unloading. Then Shetler and Smart Move will deliver one or more vaults to your residence depending on your needs. The service is perfect for local storage, decluttering or long-distance moves.

Once the vault is delivered, you have 28 days to cover packing and the transportation portion if you are moving. You lock the vault with your own lock, and no one else opens the vault ever. To protect your contents, the program provides up to $10,000 valuation coverage on each vault.

Shetler and Smart Move can move small shipments anywhere in the United States in 10 days or less. Weather-resistant and watertight, the Smart Move SmartVaultTM is built for interstate shipment. Traveling inside trucks away from changes in weather, the vaults provide added security.

As a AAA benefit, members receive $150 off the total Smart Move relocation. For details, call (800) 321-5069.

Round up old vehicle batteries

While most car batteries are recycled, the small percentage that aren’t contain millions of pounds of lead and gallons of sulfuric acid that can be discharged into the environment, so AAA is striving to gather up those strays.

To help protect the environment and prevent safety hazards, AAA will hold its annual Great Battery Roundup® from April 19–23. During this week, the public can bring old car, truck, boat and motorcycle batteries to participating AAA Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities for recycling.

For a list of AAR facilities, visit www.AAA.com or call (800) 222-7623, ext. 6821. The roundup augments the year-round collection efforts of the AAA Battery Service, which installs replacement batteries in vehicles in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Little Rock.

VIN Etch helps deter auto theft

As an effective theft deterrent, the Club will offer window etching of your vehicle’s VIN (vehicle identification number) at several AAA offices.

The cost for the service is $30 for AAA members and $40 for non-members, including six etchings per car. AAA offers discounts on insurance for VIN Etching.

Call 1-800-AAA-ROAD ext. 6821 to make appointments at least 48 hours in advance of the dates. Please have your VIN number handy when you call.
