The AAA Diamond Difference

With today’s proliferation of Web sites and mobile apps that rate everything from dentists to dry cleaners, people ask me what makes AAA Diamond ratings for hotels and restaurants different. The distinction is the quality of the rating process. Our program is unique in providing ratings based on personal, on-site inspections guided by what members tell us they’re looking for in a travel experience. AAA hired its first field representatives to conduct inspections in 1937. Today, professional AAA inspectors evaluate and rate more than 1,200 hotels and restaurants each week.

With such a high level of rigor, it’s not surprising that only a small percentage of the approximately 58,000 lodgings and restaurants inspected each year earn the AAA Four Diamond or Five Diamond rating. For 2015, the group of AAA Four Diamond designees includes 49 establishments in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi (see full list). AAA Four Diamond properties are characterized as being refined and stylish, with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities, and a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.

Whether you are traveling on a budget or planning the vacation of a lifetime, you can count on AAA Diamond ratings to give you a reliable way to find lodging and meals that meet high standards for quality and consistency. Each rating level–from one Diamond to five Diamonds–represents specific standards for guests. Our AAA Diamond-rating system helps ensure that when you check in to a hotel or eat at a restaurant, you know what to expect and that those expectations will be met.

The next time you travel, let the AAA Diamond ratings help guide your choices. If you’re not sure where to start, contact one of our friendly vacation planners, who will be happy to assist you at a AAA branch, or visit us at AAA Diamond ratings are just one more way that your membership provides you with the peace of mind you can count on from AAA.
